Handling 3 million daily orders across 247,000 restaurants is an extreme sport, so we gave the Zomato partner app a massive UX overhaul. Because this was a vast project borrowing from multiple domains, it took us 5 intense months to complete the designs—building our new headless design system side-by-side with the product features. We completely remodeled the digital kitchen by streamlining navigation, adding intuitive in-page tabs, and redesigning order cards to instantly highlight crucial details like pure veg requests, IRCTC orders, and customer birthdays. By simplifying support flows and finally solving the multi-brand device juggling act, we made managing the dinner rush an absolute breeze for owners and staff alike.
The business impact was instantly delicious. We are now saving over 10,000 orders every single day from rejections and timeouts, while helping food get cooked 1.5 minutes faster. Not only did these efficiency gains lead to 5,300 fewer daily complaints, but consolidating 16,000+ multi-brand kitchens onto single devices eliminated the need for 48,000 extra screens, cutting a massive 2.6 tons of CO2 emissions daily!
